Let’s face it, Fire-King collecting is becoming more and more popular everyday. So much so that we buy almost everything we find with a Fire-King or Anchor logo on it. But all that collecting, is not without it’s downside.
There are people out there that are making counterfeit mugs.
Like Gulf Oil, Texaco was founded in 1901 after a major oil strike at Spindletop near Beaumont, Texas.
The company's facility was known as the Black Cat from all the carbon dust. Collins, a native of Salisbury, Maryland, had been working in the decorating department of the Ohio Flint Glass Company when this opportunity arose. Production was expanded with the purchase of another day-tank.
Unfortunately the ,000 that was raised was not sufficient to purchase and operate the new company, so Mr. This project was funded by selling ,000 in stock to Thomas Fulton, who was to become the Secretary-Treasurer. They managed to raise the funding to build what is known as Plant 1 on top of the ashes of the Black Cat.
So, here at Fire-King-Mug.com, we want to hear from you when you get a mug that you don’t think is up to snuff.
There are other sites out there with more information, but we will dedicate this page to what we find. Help us spot mugs that aren’t spot on and happy collecting to you! With most fakes you will notice that the mug appears older than the decal.
